Playing with my new toys

My friend, Michele came over tonight to stamp with me and I got to play with my new toys...got to try out each of my new embossing folders (thanks again, Alora!) and play with some of my new stamps, too. I'm a happy girl! :) I wanted to make a couple of happy, cheery cards as it was a miserable day here weather wise today, so I had an idea that if I started to make cheery looking cards, maybe the nice weather would come back! lol :)This is the first card that I made, using the Stylized Flowers embossing folder along with my Magenta Dragonfly. I love this little dragonfly! I really like these colours, too! The prima is also part of another blog candy contest that I won. (Thanks again, Kim!) I never quite know where I want to add these gorgeous flowers...I tend to ration them for special occasions, I figure, but I think I will just start to use them more. They're not doing me much good just sitting in their packaging among my supplies! The scalloped oval is part of the assortment that I recently received. (Thanks again, so much, Tracy!)
This is the second card that I made, using the Bloom Dots embossing folder this time. I used my SU Polka Dots and Paisley set for the flower and the background and 'Happy.' The sheer brown polka dot ribbon is from Michaels. I swiped a SU Creamy Caramel ink spot over the embossed Bloom Dots and used my corner rounder for the happy tag.It was so nice to get back into my crafty room tonight for a bit. My back is paying for it, now, though. Boo Hoo. :( My back is getting better, but still bothers me to sit for any period of time. Anyway, it's on the mend slowly but surely. I'll be making something else tomorrow, just have to rack my brain overnight as to a gift I can make for my daughter's teacher for an end of school gift. I thought I still had another couple of weeks, but I learned today that this Thursday is the teacher's last day with her and another teacher will be finishing out the next couple of weeks. Not sure what's going on, a bit of a shock, but I wanted to do up something nice for her. My daughter thinks the world of her and I really appreciate the wonderful job that she does and the hard work that goes into teaching all these little children. Any ideas for me?

OK, I have to get some sleep, I'm sure I won't be getting any tomorrow! lol :)

Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Hi Julie:
Just read your blog regarding your
teacher dilemna. Do you know if she is into scraps/cards? My
daughter was in the same boat, but found out the teacher loves scrapbooking, so she bought her a
    "candy" box of stuff.
