I have an extremely hard time coming up with masculine card ideas, so I'm happy to see what other ideas people come up with for the July Happiness Giveaway Challenge over at my friend's Tracy's blog. You have 'til Tuesday night to get your entry in... so hurry up if you haven't already done so. The card was to be a masculine theme using the SC99 sketch from SCS.
It took me a while to figure out the dimensions of the pieces for the card, then after I did, I had no idea what image to put in the centre... so I chose to not even use an image, to just use some text. So, I went through all my sayings, after a great deal of humming and hawing I decided on 'Thoughts of You'... that's kinda masculine, I guess. The stamp is one from my $1.50 Michaels stamp clear acrylic sets. I stamped it in Coffee Bean pigment ink as I find the pigment inks seem to give a better result than my dye inks.
The patterned papers that I used were some that I've had for a while now that I bought for masculine cards...just can't remember where they're from. Yup, I have absolutely no memory... I'm the first to admit that! lol :) For the base, I used a Royal Blue Bazzill cardstock and a Mustard Yellow Bazzill cardstock for the centre piece. For the buckles, I used my SU Word Window punch and cut it in half to make two tabs and I added an antique brass brad to each buckle. The frame is from the SU Hodge Podge Hardware set, also in antique brass.
Well, that's a lot of rambling for such a simple looking card! lol :) I'm gonna call it a day hoping that the sunshine decides to make an appearance again tomorrow!
Thanks for stopping by! :)

Great job, Julie! I really like that DP...great masculine paper. You find that the pigment ink works better for the Michaels acyrlic stamps? I am having a hard time getting a nice clear image...very frustrating!
I think it's a great masculine card! Just found your blog, I see you're from Dartmouth! I'm from shubenacadie. It's nice to find other NS bloggers!
NICE CARD! :)
Great card, love the colors you used.
Very nice masculine card. I also have a difficult time making a card for adult males. You did a great job on your card!
