Bitty Dots Puzzler Challenge

Well, I'm on a roll doing challenges lately. :) I had a lot of fun with this one tonight. First, you had to complete a 'connect the dots card sketch' to reveal what the sketch actually looked like. A fun idea that Nicole came up with over at Capture the Moment. For this sketch challenge, you're entering for the Entire PaperTrey Ink Ribbon Collection - 95 spools in total! Over the Rainbow Challenge

The colours in this card were inspired by a colour challenge over on Capture the Moment. Nichole's company, PaperTrey Ink has the most beautiful colours of cardstock, however, I don't own any. I guess I've always looked at them in awe, but thought, oh, it would probably cost an arm and a leg for shipping, so I tend to buy my cardstock locally. I'd love to get my crafty fingers on some of their colours, though! lol :) The winner of this colour challenge will win a year supply (510 sheets in total) of PTI cardstock! Can you imagine the excitement! OMG, I'd be ecstatic! I can dream, can't I? lol :)

Dang scanner again. Can anyone tell me why it's making my top layer of cardstock a different, brighter shade of yellow than the other layers? Is there something that I'm doing wrong with the scanning? Please, shed some light to a scanner virgin! lol :)

Mojo72 Sketch Challenge

I created this card for the Mojo Monday Week 72 Sketch Challenge. Can you believe that I don't think I've ever done one of these Mojo Monday challenges before! Crazy, I know, but I saw this sketch today and I decided I'd give it a go. I love Julee's sketches, I guess I just always try to do my own...but, with my brain foggy these days with sickness, I figured I could use a little help! lol :)

I made this card for my Mum for Valentine's Day. Does it look like a Valentine's Day card? I don't know, I didn't want a typical looking themed card with hearts and cupids, but I'm happy with how it turned out. I know the top yellow layer looks different from the other yellow layers, but it really is the same colour. Again, it's my scanner, and me now knowing how to use it properly apparently to adjust colours and layers to look true.

OK, stampin' therapy time for tonight is over. I had a nap tonight after I got the kids to sleep, but then I woke and felt the need to make a card... lol :) Now, its time to call it a day.

Just a Note

OK, so I love, love, love the colour of this blue cardstock! I bought a bunch of cardstock from my friend, Kim, a while ago and I think I got this from her. If I did, I need to find out if she has any more or find out where she got this cs. This was my last sheet and it's such a gorgeous shade of blue that I NEED to have more! lol :) It's a shade darker than Blue Bayou, by SU. Kim, if you're reading this, do ya have any more? Inquiring minds need to know! :)

Yes, unfortunately, we're all still sick here at my house. Jim certainly picked a great time to go to sea. The girls are still home from school again today and I imagine I'll be keeping them home again tomorrow, as well. A truly nasty bug has taken over my house and I don't like it one little bit! :( We're all still running fevers up to 40 C/104 F. Not fun at all!

My daughter, Alexandria has been wanting to have crafty time, so with helping her, I don't seem to have it in me to design my own card sketch, so I've been cheating for the past couple of cards and I CASE'd them. This one is one that I CASE'd from the very talented, Carolyn King or Cammie as she's known to most of the blogging world. It's such a simple card sketch, but I love it. I like how she corner rounded the base of the whole card and added the eyelet to the edge of the top layer to add a tied ribbon through. A simple touch, by very effective.

I'm still having to use my scanner as my lithium battery in my old camera won't hold a charge anymore. My scanner provides a clear picture of the card, but it doesn't show any of the dimension of the card. I popped up all the scalloped circles and then also popped up the butterflies and folded their wings up so they look like they've just landed on the card. Wish you could see that. The scanner also makes the colours darker than they really are. The blue isn't this dark in real life. But, when I try to adjust the colours, I just make it worse. Ah well, I'll have my camera back soon enough.

Happy 14th Birthday, Alysha!

This is the birthday card that I made for my niece, Alysha, who's turning 14 years old on Sunday. Wow, it's hard to believe that she's gonna be 14 already! How time flies, it just seems like not too long ago that she was a little baby. I can still picture her in her little umbrella stroller at my wedding. Such a cutie and she looked just like my brother did when he was a baby. She's grown into such a beautiful girl now and is so smart, just like her Dad (my brother) and has his sense of humour, too. I'm so proud of her and know she's gonna do great in life.

I CASE'd the style of this card off of a card that the very talented, Beate Johns did last year, I think. One of the many 'inspiration' cards that I have on file on my computer. It's a tri-fold style of card. The front flap with the ribbon lifts up and then the butterfly/happy birthday panel folds down to reveal the inside of the card. Blue is her favourite and I figured she might like the style of this card being that it's a bit different. Hope she likes it! :)

Enjoy the Day

I thought I'd take some time out for myself tonight before I hit the hay early. Both my daughters are sick and between them I got about a 1/2 hour of sleep last night. I think right now I'm just running on caffeine...no, actually, I don't think, I know I am! lol :) They've both been running really high fevers, my oldest has an intestinal flu...yup, you guessed it, not pretty at all, nor is the laundry that's been associated with it! My youngest only has a bad cold, but has had severe headaches along with the fever. I think her little body is trying to fight off the flu. I really hope she doesn't get it, too. I'm praying that tomorrow will be a better day. They were both asleep by 6:30 PM tonight, so hopefully since neither of them slept last night, they'll get a good night of sleep tonight. So far, so good...

Ok, onto my card. I don't think I've done this much stamping on a card in a long time! I really like the way this card turned out, although it may look a little dark in the scan that I took of the card. Jim left for Sea yesterday and took our good camera. My old camera isn't holding a charge anymore, so I had to use my scanner to get a pic. I guess it'll do for now, but it's causing me some issues. Oh well, not a big deal.

OK, gotta go check on the kiddies and turn in early myself.

Bunny Box Basket Tutorial

Hopefully, with Spring on it's way soon (...I'm hoping the Groundhog doesn't see his shadow today!), I thought I'd do up a tutorial for a cute little bunny box basket that I designed. The girls and I had fun making these yesterday and they're super easy to make.

Bunny Box Basket:

Step 1: First, cut a piece of cardstock to measure 7" x 7" square. Using your scoring blade, make score lines 2" in from each of the four sides. (If you click on the picture below, you will probably see my score lines better.)

Step 2: Using your cutting blade, cut along the scored lines as shown below. ONLY to the centre square, though. For the tabs, I folded the middle part back and then cut 1" off the two end pieces to create the tabs. Then, with my scissors, I freehand cut the diagonal pieces to finish the tab design. On the bottom of your box, add double-sided tape to the tabs. If you're using plain cardstock, it won't matter which is the top and which is the bottom.

Step 3: With the double-sided tape facing down, fold up the sides of the box at the pre-scored lines. Remove your tape and form a box by folding the corners in to meet each other. Your diagonally cut tabs should be on the inside of your corners as shown below.

Step 4: From the template provided above, cut out your heart. (Note the circle is there just to show you how you attach the ears to the head.) Trace the heart onto white cardstock and cut it out. (I placed my heart template on pink cardstock below so that you could see it.)

Step 5: Punch out 1 - pink 3/4" circle, 1 - white 1" circle (I used my Creative Memories punches) and 4 - white small ovals - 1 3/8" x 1 7/8" (using the blue blade with your second smallest Creative Memories Oval Custom Cutting Template.) Use a fine marker of your colour choice (I used mauve) for the toes. Follow the pictures below to make the toes for the right and left sides as the strokes are facing different directions for each side.
Step 6: Cut out the Inner Ear template from the template provided. Trace it twice onto pink cardstock and cut each of them out.

Step 7: Using your Cuttlebug and your second largest Classic Circle Nestability, make one circle diecut on white cardstock for the head. Now, punch out 2 - mauve circles using a basic office hole punch and adhere to the circleto make the eyes. Adhere the pink circle for the nose (that you punched out already) and freehand draw the little mouth and whiskers. Adhere your pink inner ear pieces to your white outer ear piece (the white heart that you cut out earlier in Step #4.) Adhere the heart with double-sided tape to the back of the circle that you cut.

Step 8: Now, using double-sided tape, you may adhere the finished bunny head to the box that you finished in Step #3.

Step 8: Using Terrifically Tacky Tape by Provocraft, attach the handle little handle to the box to form your basket. Adhere the white cotton tail to the back of the box.

Step 9: Using double-sided tape, adhere the feet to the right and left side, paying attention to the direction of the toes so that they're facing down.

Step 10: Fill the basket with your choice of candy or goodies and you're done!

Wow, I didn't think it would take that many steps to make up this tutorial, I guess it's partially because I'm rather long-winded! lol :) This really is a super easy project to do, your kids will love it! Have fun!
