TSC12: Spring Theme

It's challenge time again over at The Stampsmith Challenge blog. Our theme is "Spring." I hope you decide to play along in the fun for a chance to win some new rubber from The Stampsmith Shop. For this mid-month challenge, we ask you that you use at least one image from The Stampsmith in order to be eligible for the random draw.

For my design team sample, I chose to use my 'Serena' photostamp. To me, Serena just screams Spring, so she's perfect for this challenge. Along with some beautiful lace and pretty little flowers to embellish my card, I did a watercolour technique on glossy cardstock to give it a delicate looking background and then stamped the image over top.

On theme, as I was driving home from work today, I saw lots of beautiful crocuses. Spring is definitely here when you see all the crocuses in bloom. It makes me happy for sure...especially since it means I probably don't have to shovel any more snow this year! lol :)

I look forward to seeing what spring projects you all come up with!

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Spring Bunny Basket

Unfortunately, both my girls are home sick today from school and they needed a little cheering up and asked to make a craft. So, I thought this sweet little bunny basket would do just the trick. I saw this basket originally on Mercedes Weber's blog. You can see her project here.

This is the one that I made showing a bit more of the side, as well.

This one was made by my 8 year old daughter, Alexandria.

This one was made by my 6 year old daughter, Natalia.

They had so much fun making these and are very cute, if I do say so myself!  The girls are feeling much better, their fevers are almost gone so hopefully they'll be good to go back to school tomorrow.   On a happy note, I finally have my consultation appointment with the 2nd surgeon tomorrow, so wish me luck that he can book me in for surgery soon to have this tumor removed and I can get back to my old self!  I'll keep ya posted. Thanks again to all of you.

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Spring Card Swap

I couldn't sleep last night so I got to thinking about another Spring-themed card idea that I could use for my swap card for tonight and this is what I came up with. I'm happier with this card, but I'll take both cards with me and whoever gets my name can choose which card they would like to have.

For the dragonfly, I used the rock n' roll technique with Wild Wasabi first, then Blue Bayou to give a more chameleon look to the wings. I cut out all the bugs with my scissors and used dimensional squares to lift them all up off the layered squares and rectangles that were also all popped up.

I thought it'd be cute to use vellum for the wings to make them look more like bee wings. Here's an angle view to show you.I'l be back tomorrow with our projects from tongiht's crafty session. Stay tuned...
