Sweet Pea Swap card by Val

I had a wonderful time last night with some great friends for our monthly crafty night.  I drew Valerie Wilson's name and was the very happy recipient of this beautiful card for our "Sweet Pea Stamps" themed card swap this month. You can see my swap card here.

She spent hours colouring this and did a fabulous job!   She's so beautiful and I absolutely love all the colours Val chose to colour her with.  She's so vibrant and full of life.  After colouring her, she decided to incorporate her into a pop up card and also did a little tutorial on this style of card last night, so keep a look out for one of these cards done by me in the near future!

Shining On, in Sweet Pea Style

We're having our monthly meeting tonight for our group of stamping gals and the theme for this month's swap was to use a Sweet Pea Stamps stamp on your card as the main focal image. I chose to use the Haiti Relief stamp, "Shining On."  She's so beautiful and the proceeds from this stamp went to help those affected in the Haitian earthquake this year.

I know you can't see the circle doily stamp very well, as I covered most of it up with the prima flowers, but it's up in the top left corner.  I sponged on some fired red brick distress ink, then stamped the doily over top using whisper white craft ink.  This doily is so beautiful, I'm going to have fun playing with it in the future where you can see it more.  :)

I took a Copic marker class the other night, and I think my colouring is actually getting better.   I'm having fun with it anyway!  Now, I just need to invest in some more markers...perhaps I'll treat myself for my birthday next month!  :)  Most of my markers are Touch markers that are like the Copic markers.  These are alcohol based, as well, and colour like a dream with no streaking.  They have the same square body and double-ended tips.  All that, at a fraction of the cost, nice for a bargain shopper, like myself!  lol   :)

Sweet Pea Gold Challenge and Mojo132 Sketch Challenge

I incorporated two challenges in one for this card. First, I used a Sweet Pea Stamps image for their current 'All that Glistens is Gold' challenge on Sweet Pea Stampers.  I know I didn't use a lot of 'gold' in my project, but I honestly don't use a lot of gold.  I'm more of a silver kinda gal!    Anyway, the butterfly in the patterned paper is gold along with the flower flourishes in the corners and the connected circle borders on my stamped image.  Hopefully, that's enough for the challenge.

Secondly, I followed the current Mojo Monday sketch. I love following these sketches and I think it's fun that Julee's doing some round or square options now, too.  I like making round cards for the kids, they always seem in awe when they get a round card - something different from the norm.  :)

Winter Watcher

I have another creation to show you using one of my Sweet Pea Stamps, this one is called Winter Watcher from ©Ching-Chou Kuik's Fantasy Art Collection.  My colouring for this card has a bit of dark look to it, but I think she's beautiful with her soft blue and white hair and gorgeous teal dress and cape.   Teal is such a wonderfully rich colour - definitely one of my favourites.  Look at the flourish detailing that she put into the dress and glove - so pretty!  Oh my, I love these stamps!  :)

Here's a close up of the image.  It's hard to see, but I used Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz all over the coloured image.   It gives it such a nice, shimmery look.  My pictures are a little washed out.  In real life, the kitty is a little darker blue.

Sweet Pea Stamps DT Sketch Challenge

Oh, my goodness, I was so excited to see that Sweet Pea Stamps has started up a new blog called Sweet Pea Stampers and they're looking for a design team for it. This is my submission card. I absolutely love there stamps and would be thrilled to be chosen for their DT.  Fingers crossed for me!  :)  I think this stamp, Poppy Love is my favourite - poppies are my all time favourite flower and she's so beautiful.  These stamps are so much fun to colour in!

September Rhythm Mermaid

Another mermaid creation from the Sweet Pea Stamps line.  This one is called September Rhythm and I decided to make her into a Tent Topper card.  Since my girls are on March Break now, we each coloured in one of these images today and had a crafty afternoon.  They like mermaids and loved this image so they had fun colouring her in.  Although, tonight my youngest asked when school starts up again...Uh, oh, boredom has started to set in already, I'm afraid!  lol  :)

Here's a close up since in the picture above you can't see the scales in her tail.  The stickles really aren't that thick..it's just my photography!  Guess I should have waited to take the photo during the daylight, but I'm too impatient!  lol  :)

Dance of Butterfly

I can't tell you how much I love my new stamps from Sweet Pea Stamps! Oh my, they're just so much fun to colour and they're so beautiful, I could sit for hours and just colour the day away! :)  If you haven't checked out the images as part of the Ching-Chou Kuik's Fantasy Art Collection you've gotta go take a look!  They're absolutely gorgeous!

Well, I had a great weekend and come tomorrow the kids are on March Break for the week.  So, fingers crossed that I can keep them entertained enough that they don't get too bored at home with me!  I'll have to see if I can devise a couple of simple crafty projects for them to do.
