Fantasy Box

I had so much fun making this pretty little Fantasy Box. My friend, Yvonne made one of these recently for our 'Dimensional' card/project swap with our crafty group of friends and I thought hers was just gorgeous. We're all getting together on Tuesday night to make one of these as a group, but I thought I give one a go as a Teacher's gift.

Here's a view with the cover off.

Now, that I have the dimensions straight, I think I'll make two more as well for the other two teacher's as well. I bought little school supply pieces and I've gonna put those in three of the little boxes and Bliss Chocolate Truffles in the fourth little box. If they don't want to keep this at school to hold desk supplies, they could use it at home for jewelry or whatever they wish.

Next time around, I think I'll go with two of the same weight of patterned paper. The Bo Bunny paper that I used on the outside of the box is a good weight, but the inside of the box is a very heavy paper and it doesn't allow the box to fold up as well as it could. I must say, though, it's a very sturdy little box and quite pretty if I do say so myself! lol :)

I used a tutorial from Stubby Stampers for the main Fantasy Box case and for the Origami Boxes on the inside. I did alter the origami boxes to use a 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" piece of cardstock instead of a 6" x 6". The larger size was too big for my box case and it wouldn't close properly. I think this is because I used the heavier patterned paper, though.

Here's a better view of the pretty Prima flower that adorns the top of the box cover.

A view of the top of the box without the cover showing the first of the four boxes that hides inside.

This is the flap closure on the back of the box.

This shows the box partially opened...
Opened a little more...

Opened a little more still...

This shows the fantasy box fully opened. Isn't this patterned paper gorgeous? I love it's shimmer and swirls! :)

Wow, that was a lot of pictures, but I wanted to show you had it opened. If I decide to make two more of these fantasy boxes, I'll post them soon or post whatever else I decide to make for the other two teachers. The countdown is on...tomorrow morning is their finally school assembly and then they're on Summer vacation.

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Teacher Appreciation Card

I have another Teacher card to share with you. This is the design that I came up with for my other daughter's two teachers and made two exactly the same. After seeing this image on Art Creations Friday, I knew I wanted to use it for a vintage looking Teacher appreciation card. Isn't this just the sweetest image of a little school girl?

I didn't have a sentiment stamp that I felt was fitting to use with this image and this type of card, so I opted to print out a sentiment of my own using a nice clean script font.

Here's an angle to show you the dimension in the card.
Well, it's a good thing that I'm just sitting around tonight simply having a bit of crafty time...for some reason this afternoon I thought it would be a good idea to show my five year old how to do a bit of gymnastics with some demonstrations of somersaults, cartwheels and back handsprings! I don't know what I was thinking...I didn't even stretch beforehand! I guess I deserve the sore muscles that I have now! Apparently, I've lost my mind! lol :)

Well, I need to continue working on teacher gifts...I'm running out of time at a feverish rate!!!

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Unconventional Teacher Appreciation Card

Well, I think this is the most unconventional Teacher appreciation card I've ever made, but it just seemed fitting for this teacher. My youngest daughter just adores her Grade Primary teacher. She's the most wonderful teacher, who truly cares about her students and it's such an honor to have to give our children the best academic start possible.

So, you're probably wondering, ok, but what's the reason behind the shoes! Well, this teacher always looks nice at school and presents herself in a well-put-together manner. Apparently, she's mentioned to the class before that she likes shoes, or perhaps it's just that my 5 year has noticed that her teacher wears nice shoes. I'm not sure...

Now, onto the funny part...nearly every time we're out at the mall, if my daughter spies some nice shoes, she wants to buy them for her teacher. I've never bought any for her, partly because I don't know what size she wears, but mostly because I think it would just be weird to buy someone else shoes! lol :) Anyway, my daughter feels so strongly about buying her teacher shoes that it usually brings her to tears that I won't buy any! Kinda sad, but funny at the same time.

Anyway, I figured this story would bring a smile to this teacher's face and it'd be something that she would remember about my daughter. :)

Decoupage Apple Teacher Card

I was asked to make a Teacher card for one of my co-workers and this is what I came up with. My friend, Catherine, recently gave me this cute little apple stamp as it seems we're always on the look out for apple stamps for teacher gifts! Thanks again, Catherine! :)

The original apple stamp had a happy face in the centre of it, but I decided not to ink up that part and instead draw in my own apple seeds. Then, to change it up a bit more, I choose to use some patterned paper on half of it for interest. I recently found these gorgeous onyx rhinestones and thought I'd add them as the embellishment to keep it simple as I think the rest of the card is busy enough. I kinda like how it turned out, I hope Michelle likes the card. :)

Here's a close up of the onyx rhinestones.

Here's an angle shot to show you the dimension of the layers. I used some new black dimensional dots so they blend in with the black cardstock.

Well, now that another mother's Teacher card is done for her child, I should probably get started on my own Teacher's gifts, eh? I'm such a procrastinator! lol :)

Teacher's Daily Journal Xmas Gift

This is the Xmas gift that I put together for my daughter's teachers this year. I actually made three complete sets of what you're going to see pictured below, so I've been a busy gal the past couple of days. It was a fun project, though and I have to thank Nichole Heady of PaperTrey Ink for the wonderful idea, as I saw it on her blog. She has a template for the alphabet collage that you see on the jar label that I made. As well as a download for the 4 pages of questions that you print off and then cut out and curl for inside the jar. You can read all the questions by downloading the file. I thought this was a great idea and I hope that the teachers like it, too. :)

Above is a picture of the full basket of goodies.

This is the jar that holds all the daily journal questions. I cut them all with my paper trimmer, then curled them all with a pair of scissors like you would with curly ribbon on a present.
Side angle of the jar to show you how I made the label band for the jar.

This is the journal that I altered for the daily entries.

This is a set of 6 notecards with envelopes that I altered a little, as well and tied a piece of satin ribbon around them to keep them together.

This is a little card that explains the whole gift.

A close up of the explanation card so you can read it better.

This a little notebook with attached pen that I altered a little, as well.

For the journal, notecards and notebook, I bought them all at Michaels and just altered them slightly to go along with the 'apple' theme. A pretty quick alter, but effective. :) Sorry for some of the poor pics. The notebook has a glossy finish to it so the flash kept getting caught in the pic. Also, for the Explanation Note card that explains the gift, I had it printed off on a laser printer so it's nice and clear, it's just my photography that's making it look like the printer is running out of ink...in real life it doesn't look like that, it's just the flash again. lol :)

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)
