Faux Metal Tags

My idea was to use those cute little metal edged tags for the two circle accents, but I got tired of fooling around with them!  They're too hard to stamp on and I didn't like the way they were looking, so I was going to try to add patterned paper to the white part of the tag...yup, not working for me either, then I had a brainwave!  Why not just use silver cardstock as a base and it will look like a metal tag! Ta-da, perfect!   :)

I carried the silver theme onto the circle base for the butterfly.  Not sure about this part as my thought was to make it look like it was peeking in a mirror.  Anyway, I guess it works.  What do you think?

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

You're on my mind

We've been away a lot lately or doing work around the house so I haven't had a chance to play much, but I took the opportunity tonight to make a card. I kept it simple as the basement is pretty strong smelling right now from the oil based floor paint that we used in our storage room today. I've got a melon head right now from the fumes, so I think I'll call it a day and seek refuge upstairs where the fumes aren't as strong!

I'll try to make it back soon with something else to show you.

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

It's my Birthday today!

This is a dual Birthday / Father's Day card for my Father-in-Law. His birthday and Father's are only two days apart, so it makes sense to make one card for both occasions. I wanted to go with the same general theme as the Father's Day card that I made for my Dad yesterday. But, I didn't have any more chipboard embellishments so I opted to use the chipboard 'D' as a stencil and cut it out. Then, I added some stamped pocket watches to the background. I'm not really happy with my placement of the pocket watches, but I think it'll do...

Today is my 35th birthday! This morning my girls presented me with the cutest cards. :) I'll be opening up my presents tonight and they know I'm a peeker so they informed me not to peek around the house for presents today while they're at school! lol :) My parents are also coming for a visit in a few hours to celebrate. I'm really looking forward to them coming and my mum is bringing lasagna and salad and Turtle cheesecake - Yummy! :) Well, I could continue being crafty, but I have to go finish tidying my house, my parents are arriving soon and time is gonna go by quickly.

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

'All New' Mingle Creation

Well, I think this was one of the hardest cards I ever had to make. I don't think had to make are the words I was looking for, but I did have some huge challenges with this one. Our local group of stamping friends decided, OK, Val came up with the idea, to do a Mingle between us that had the following guidelines:

The challenge is to make a card with ENTIRELY new supplies that you already own but have never used before...
~new paper
~new stamps
~new embellishments
~new ribbon
~new bling
... whatever you use, must be in your stash already but you must not have ever used it before :)

Wow, now there's a challenge!!! I'd come up with an idea and think OK, this is the stamp that I'm going to use, but then I couldn't find anything else that would go with it that I hadn't used already that would follow the theme. Finally, I saw this stamp that I got not too long ago and remembered a paper pack that my Mum gave me from one of her scrapbooking excursions, then I spied this ribbon that I had and bang, an idea was born! lol :)

Here's a close up of the flowers, I even used ink that I've had for ages, but have never used before! I guess I really got into the challenge! lol :) I curled the edges up a bit to give them more dimension, but I know they won't stay curled after this card goes through the mail...

My card is going to my friend, Louise. Louise, I have to apologize for the brightness of this card! I honestly had full intentions of going with something with more 'earthtones' but alas a bright card it is! Hope you like it anyway! :)

Be Mine, Valentine

Isn't this butterfly stamp gorgeous? You know me, I had to have it! :) Just some quick stampin' therapy time tonight amongst the GI infection madness that has taken over my house. I was just about to send the kids back to school tomorrow after being off school for 8 school days now from being sick. I'm just starting to feel better tonight, just exhausted, but now my youngest daughter has developed this nasty bug. You're kidding me, right? It's been such a long 2 weeks...I just need this bug to go away. Hoping that my daughter only has a mild case of it, but the way my other daughter and I were both affected, I'm not holding my breath. :(

Off to bed to get some rest and await the fun tonight...
