Altered Butterfly Frame

I had a lot of fun altering this frame tonight. I was thrilled to find the frame today at Zellers on a clearance table for 70% off the lowest yellow ticketed price! That meant I got it for $1.93! What a screamin' deal! lol :)

Altering this frame ended up being a lot harder than I had anticipated, but I like how it turned out and it'll make for a different frame to have around the house to hold a pic of my two daughters. :) I took this picture on their first day of school last Fall.
This is what the frame looked like pre-altered. A nice frame, but it was beat up a bit, hence it being on clearance. But, in my mind, that just made for an opportunity for it to be altered! Yes, I will alter pretty much anything! lol :) The frame measures 8.5" x 10.5" and the photo insert is 4" x 6".

Well, I have to get up early to go get my hubby at the dockyard so I better call it a day. I'll be back soon with more to show you. Until then...

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Happy Birthday, Yvonne!

Apparently, I'm making up for lost time with all my posts today, but this is my last post for today, I promise! lol :) This card is basically the same as my last card that I posted, except that I decided to add the extra cherry blossom branches to the background for some added dimension. This card was for my friend, Yvonne, who's birthday is next week, but I gave her the card last night at our get together so it's safe to post.

This is my little vellum butterfly that I stamped, embossed and cut out times two. I love this little butterfly stamp - I think I might be in love! lol :)

Here's an angle to show you the dimension of the card.

Ok, I'm gonna call it a day. I'm volunteering with my girls school tomorrow to take the Grades Primary and Grade One class to go swimming. They're all getting so excited...should be fun walking 50 kids over to the pool...humm, perhaps I'm insane! lol :) Seriously, it'll be great.

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Dimensional Swap

Our group of crafty friends met last night for dinner to celebrate several birthdays within our group and just to enjoy a night out and have some great Thai food and have tonnes of laughs. Well, we certainly had tonnes of laughs and I think my ribs actually still hurt today from it! They say that laughter is the best medicine and I really do believe that! I had such a great night! :)

For this time around, although we weren't having a crafty night, we still held a swap for the night and we also all brought our movie mingle cards to show everyone. The theme was 'Dimensional.' This could be a card or a 3-D project. Everyone did really neat projects but we all loved Yvonne's project and have decided to all make one together at our next crafty night at the end of the month. I can't wait!

This shows you the dimension of my card with the window and the dimensional butterfly.
This is a close up view of the card I'm going to show you in my next post, but the vellum butterfly is the same, so I'll just show you this one. I used vellum for both layers - I stamped the butterfly out twice with VersaMark and then used white opaque for the bottom butterfly layer and Rose Quartz embossing powder for the top butterfly.

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

A Wonderful Mother's Day

Hope all the Mother's out there had a wonderful Mother's Day today. I woke up to breakfast in bed...quite a yummy smorgasbord! :) And of course crafty cards and artwork from my precious girls! They're such sweethearts!

We drove to the Valley this afternoon to visit my Mum and Dad. We had a nice visit with them and got back home at 9 pm tonight. I'm sure the girls will be sleepy in the morning, but they were so happy to see their grandparents again. It's crazy how we only live an hour drive away but hardly see each other. Time just seems to fly by and we all get into our own routines. We just need to make the time, I guess!

Well, it's time to call it a day, but I just wanted to share a pic of this card that I made for my Mum. It's the same as this card that the made the other night for my Mother-in-Law, except that I added sheer white ribbon to this one. Afterwards, the other one just seemed too plain to me...I think I like it better with the ribbon.

Here's an angle shot to show you the dimension of the card.

Happy Mother's Day

I made two of these Mother's Day cards last night. One for my Mom and one for my Mother-in-Law. I also have a few more to make, but I'll use a different sketch and different papers. I've been asked by some friends and some of the gals I work with if I'd make them each a Mother's Day card to give to their Mom's. So, I'll have a few more to post in the next couple of days.

I used my Textile Texture folder to add a little extra to the photo corners which I free-hand cut out myself. I simply cut out a 1 1/2" square and then used my small guillotine cutter to cut the square in half to make two triangles. Then, I used my scissors to cut out a smaller triangle from the inside of the longest side. Clear as mud? lol :)

Here's an angle shot to show you the dimension of the card.
I used the Mojo44 sketch for this card, changing it up a bit. Ya gotta love Julee's Mojo Monday Sketches! :)

CPS104 Sketch Challenge

This is the card that I made for our card swap for our girls' stampin' night out tonight. Wow, that was a mouthful, wasn't it? lol :) I used sketch CPS104 from (Card Positioning Systems), sponsored this time around by PaperTrey Ink. I didn't actually enter the contest, though, as I felt it was cheating. I used the sketch, but I also CASE'd two ideas from a sample card that I loved by Jeanne Streiff. I loved the swirling butterflies that she made in her scalloped circle and I also liked the stitching, so I used that, too, although mine is faux stitching. I did paper pierce the whole card, though which was a little time consuming. Oh, I also added Dew Drops instead of her bling. So, as you can see, it wouldn't be fair to enter. I cheated way too much! lol :) Her card is much nicer than mine, but thanks for the inspiration, though, Jeanne!

This is the sketch (CPS104).
Anyway, I thought this would be a good card to make for our "Spring' themed card swap. I hope it looks springy enough. I'm looking forward to seeing what cards all the other ladies came up with. Our only rules were that it had to be spring-like colours. I think these would be classified as spring-like colours...I hope so anyway! lol :) I realize the base layer of the card, as well as the other base layers look almost black, but they're actually plum.

OK, so I'm off for a fun night of stampin'. I'll post our projects tomorrow. Until then...
