A Birthday card and new stamping goodies...

I'm back after a few technical difficulties. We bought a new digital camera to replace our old FujiFilm that was dying a very fast death. I wanted to be able to download my card pics onto my computer instead of using Jim's computer and I hit a couple of glitches getting the software downloaded, but I'm up and running now. :) On to more pics...

My first pic is of a card that my friend, Jamie White dropped off today for my birthday in 2 days. :) What a nice bright, cheery card. I really like it! Thanks again, so much Jamie! Can't wait to get together next week for our girls night out! Jamie also dropped off 10 more Xmas cards for the Autism Auction. They're absolutely gorgeous! They may have even got me psyched to start my Xmas cards! Check out the side bar to see the updates on how many cards we've got for the auction! I'm so thrilled with everyone's generosity, you guys ROCK! :)
Jamie inspired me to make a 'happy' card tonight, so the 2nd card is what I came up with. I used the Petals and Paisley set that Jamie dropped off as well from her recent SU party. Yeah, new stamps to ink up! The little frame tab is one of the ones that today from Tracy. Such fun to play with new things. It's been a long time since I've played with this colour combo, so I thought I'd give it a go. I kinda like it. I used my scalloped scissors again on this rectangular frame. Not perfect, but I it'll do. lol :) I forgot, I was gonna add another white layer underneath the orange strip, too. Dang! Too late now! Oh well...next time! lol :)

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Found....One Cookie Bear!

Today was a very happy day for my youngest daughter. Two years ago, I found one of these Cherished Teddy 'Cookie' bears that Avon put out. I found the original one at a 2nd hand store, but it still had the tags on it. Cherished Teddies wasn't making them anymore, I was disapointed to hear that as I wanted a spare 'Cookiebear' as my daughter calls her. It has nearly been lost on several occasions. She drags Cookiebear with her everywhere and has to sleep with her every night. If she doesn't have him, she's very upset and cries terribly! So, for the past couple of years I've tried everywhere to get a spare one, just in case. A few days ago, I thought I would try eBay again. To my surprise there were 4 available. One was here in Canada and it was an auction, the ones in the States were 'buy it now', but I thought I would try the Canadian vendor. I WON the bid! I only had to pay $4.95 + $5.50 for shipping! I was thrilled. The bear arrived today, still in original packaging, Natalia is soooo happy! Now, Cookiebear has a twin sister! :) An end to a happy story. :)

OK, apparently the supper fairies aren't coming to make supper for the family, so I have to take my broken back up to make it myself! :( I hope to be able to sit for a little bit tonight to create something. I'll try to have something to post later tonight. :)

I've been soooo spoiled!

Oh, I've been soooo spoiled thanks to my friend, Tracy Houghton! She sent me this gorgeous little card, I love the purple and mauve colours that she chose and the prima flower is gorgeous! Pretty, pretty! Thanks so much, Tracy, you're such a sweetheart! I'm happy to say that you're 'My Friend,' too! :)

Tracy was kind enough to send out some scalloped shapes to me a while back as part of a thank you for entering an altered tin contest that she had on her blog. My 5 year old daughter found them and apparently thought they were pretty, too...and she used them to make some kitty cats! EEP! lol :)

I joked with Tracy about it and she said she would send me some more and I'm sending her some stamped images in return. Tracy really out-did herself as you can see! Oh my goodness, I'm so excited! I was arranging them all to take a pic of my proud assortment of scalloped shapes and frames and my husband catches me....this is what he said, "Do you realize you're taking a picture of paper???" LOL He just doesn't get it, nor do I get his obsession with airplanes, so I guess we're even! :)

Anyway, just wanted to share my goodies! Thanks for stopping by! :)

A Happy Mail Day!

Today I came home to a wonderfully happy mail day! Charly dropped off my Holiday House Mouse swap cards. Aren't they gorgeous? What an awesome job everyone did! :) Charly also included a couple of extra House Mouse Images embossed in black for me to play with and a birthday card for me! My birthday's on Monday, I'll be turning the big 33. :)

I also got a card from Natalie Cerilli, a another fellow CSTer (Canadian Stamp Talk, a Canadian stamping Yahoo forum that I belong to.) It was sweet of her to send me this gorgeous card. She's one busy cardmakin' lady!

This cutie-pie of a card was done by my friend, Tracy Houghton. I love the Cuttlebug layers that Tracy used, this is a heaveyweight card, absolutely gorgeous! Well done!

Another beautiful creation done by Karlene Saville. I love the shimmery dark green cardstock that Karlene used for the base of this card. She's also added a shimmer to the candy canes and the paint. Too cute! My goodness I love these little mice! Great job!

This sweet little mini Triangle tri-fold card was done by Denise Surette. Another very sweet House Mouse image and I love the patterned paper and the snowflake eyelet that Denise added. Very Nice!

And, last but not least, this adorable card was done by Cathlyn Atkins. You all know how much I love scalloped shapes! Love the patterned paper, very cute, and green card stock is like a faux leather. Very cool. I have to find out where she got this! Great job!

This is the Birthday RAK that Charly Weaver sent me. I love the sun and swirls. Wow, that's a lot of cutting! Thanks so much, Charly!

This is the card that Natalie Cerilli sent me. It came in a clear envelop. How cool is that! I bet she had the people at the post office drooling, surprised this one even got to me! I also love the stamped saying on the back of Natalie's card, it says, "Hallmark, eat your heart out!" How great is that! lol :)

Gotta rest up for my birthday par-tay on Thursday night with the girls! Yippee! :) Thanks for stopping by! :)

RAK Request

Hi Everyone!

I have a huge request. I know certain times people ask for RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) requests for someone when they're ill or having a hard go, or simply to wish others a Happy Birthday. Well, I've participated in several of these and now I'd like to ask for your help. Card makers are some of the kindest people I've ever met, and I know some of you will come through for us! :)

A friend of mine has a little boy who's 3 years old and he's recently been diagnosed with Autism. My friend has become involved with the local Autism Society and as part of their fundraising efforts, card making came up. I introduced my friend to card making and she has
asked me if I would like to make 5 cards to donate to them to be part of their fundraising auction. I am more than happy to help her. She asked for different cards, just an assortment of all-occasion as they will be auctioned as a set. So, I thought I would do up a Xmas, 2
birthday (one feminine and one masculine) and two everyday cards. But, you could do up the theme of your choice. So, if you'd like to join in and donate to a great cause, we'd very much appreciate your creative help and kindness!

You can mail cards directly to me and I'll forward them on to her. She said they wanted them for July so if I could have all the cards to me by June 27th, I could have them to her by the end of the month. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Please email me at juliemutch at eastlink dot ca and I'll send you my snail mail addy. (There's also a link to email me on the right sidebar.)

Thanks again so much! :)

Pretty Posies and Swirls

I had a chance to get back into my craft room tonight for a bit and got to play with my SU Delight in Life set and SU Best Blossoms set. Of course, I had to throw in a bit of Cuttlebug action to the scenario, too! :) I used my d'vine swirls embossing folder for the olive layer. I used SU Odd Olive ink to stamp the little background flowers and SU Elegant Eggplant and Odd Olive again for the flowers inside the scalloped oval. For the ovals, I used my Creative Memories cutting templates. I noticed instructions online somewhere for using scalloped scissors and I thought I'd try that tonight. First, you cut your two ovals with the outside layer being slightly larger. Then, adhere your white layer to your eggplant layer. Then, very slowly, line your scalloped scissors right against the white layer and cut around. It just so happened that the scallops lined up perfectly. I was hoping it would work out this way and not have one that was only 1/2 a scallop, but it worked out great. This method is pretty time consuming, but it's an option if you're like me and don't own any scalloped punches. I find lots of other ways to make them, cause I love the look of them. For the corners, I used my SU Ticket punch. I like the look of these corners, it fancies it up a bit and not so plain Jane. I love this colour combination... I can't wait to get a new camera though so you can actually decipher between dark brown, black and eggplant in my pics! This is eggplant that I used tonight along with olive and sage green. Hopefully we can fins a camera that takes a picture with more 'true colours.' We're going out to look tomorrow! Yippee! :)

I hope to get back into my craft room again tomorrow night. I've been going through a bit of crafty withdrawal lately, been so busy, I haven't had a chance to get in there. Jim's home now from sailing for a couple of months and the girls are ecstatic. It's nice to have him home, too, just have to get back into routine again. Unfortunately, the girls don't go to bed nearly as early when he's home, as they like to play with him in the evenings after supper and they get all excited and then won't settle down to go to bed. Kinda cuts into my crafty time, but it's nice that he likes to play with them, though. They love him so much! I know it's selfish of me, but it's just that I'm with my girls all day, the evenings are my wind-down, relax, me time. I think we all need that time as parents to be a better parent. That way we have more energy and patience for the kids the following day. I love my girls, but they need their rest, too, and Mummy needs some alone time! Well, that's enough of my ranting... lol :)

Have a great night everyone! Thanks for stopping by! :)
