Thinking of You

I was asked to make a card to take with us tomorrow night for a get together we're having with a group that Jim is a member of. The group all wanted to sign the card to give to another one the members who has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She is a very kind person and it's with sadness that she'll be leaving this world, but she'll be remembered always. I wanted to make a card that was a 'thinking of you' card, since that's what we're all doing. We're not saying goodbye, we just want to let her know that she's in our thoughts right now.

I can remember one day while I was at work Jim had to go to meet with her zone to check on some things, but he had our girls in tow. When he got there she immediately took it upon herself to entertain them with an origami craft while he got done what he needed to do. They enjoyed it so much and talked about it for days afterwards. That really touched me that she took the time to do that for them. They had such kind words to say of her, I'll remember that always.

Supplies:
Stamps: 'flower' - Embrace Life (SU), 'thinking of you' - Clear Stamps (Studio G - Michaels)
WaterColour Crayons: Regal Rose (SU)
Ink: Purely Pomegranate (SU)
Cardstock: White Vellum Cardstock (SU), White Linen (CRS), Purely Pomegranate (SU)
, Light Pink (Bazzill)
Tools: Cuttlebug, Textile Texture Embossing Folder, 1/8" Dimensional Squares, White Opaque Embossing Powder, Embossing Buddy, Embossing Tray, Paint Brush, Heat Tool

Embellishments: Light Pink Sheer Polka Dot Ribbon (Michaels), Light Pink Brads (Making Memories)

**Edited to Add**
Yvonne asked me what I used to attach the vellum to the card. I actually just used my double-sided adhesive tape in behind the saying and the layered square that has the flowers attached to it. I like to try to hide my adhesive in behind things as I've tried many of the 'so-called' vellum adhesives and I find that you can still see them. For the 'thinking of you' saying, I added the adhesive in behind the flourishes under the saying to camouflage it. Hope this helps. :)

Altered Stamp Wish List Notebook

So, I've seen some really cute altered notebooks lately used for keeping track of your stamp wish list and I knew that I wanted to make myself one. I wanted something fun and I thought of this whimsical paper and knew it would fit the bill just perfectly. :)

I bought this notebook from the dollar store a while ago with the intention to alter it. I just removed the front and back covers from the coil binding and altered each of them. I free handed the 'My Stamp Wish List' with a white gel pen and added the stamped flourish. Then, I used my craft knife to make all the holes for the coils to go through....yeah, that was a tedious job, now I understand the desire for a Bind-it-All machine! lol :) After I re-assembled the notebook I added the ribbon for a bit more fun and that's it. The black elastic band on the right side of the notebook pulls over the end so that you can open the front cover.

Ok, it took me a lot longer to do the holes for the coils than expected...so, it's way past my bedtime again! lol :) Gonna call it a day...

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

RAK from Tracy

I just realized that I received this gorgeous card a few days ago from my friend, Tracy Houghton and I haven't posted it yet. I tried taking pics of it right away, but not only do I find the colours red and black together very hard colours to photograph, but with the bling, too, it made it super hard for me to get a good pic of. Any hints for a good setting that I should be using in that situation? I'm sorry, it's still not a very good pic, she added beautiful glitter on the flourishes and the butterfly's antenna, but again my picture taking abilities is at fault. This card is simply amazing in person! I just love it! Thanks so much to Tracy for making my day! :)

It's funny actually, I saw this card on Tracy's blog a little while back and I absolutely loved it. I made a comment teasing her and said that if she ever wanted a home for her gorgeous creation, she could feel free to send it my way! So, before no time I see it in my mailbox! How sweet is she to bring such a smile to my face! It's now proudly displayed in my crafty space among my other butterfly beauties! lol :)

Well, on to today's adventure...I decided to take the girls out for a walk over to a little shopping centre this afternoon to get out of the house and get a treat. It's about a 20 minute walk. We had a nice walk over, we stopped at Canadian Tire to look for new bicycles for them, no luck but on our way out we stumbled upon the mis-tint paint shelf and I found a gorgeous colour of yellow kitchen and bath paint. The best part was it was only $10 as apposed to about $40 normally! I couldn't leave it there! It'll look great in my upstairs bathroom, I can't wait to paint it out! :) The bad part was that we were walking, so I had to carry this heavy can of paint home! Good thing I had my backpack, but my back in killin' me now... oh, what I'll do for a bargain! lol :) So, it gets better (I'm being sarcastic), we're on our way walking home and it not only starts to rain but it's pours! EXCELLENT! The winds are blowing and we're soaking wet and cold! Anyway, we're all warmed up now, so not to worry, and the kids did have fun. Amazing how they consider that an adventure though and I just think it sucked! lol :)

Ok, gotta go for now. I'm sure I'll be back on later with something else to show you. I'm thinkin' maybe a little altered notebook for my stamp wish list. I've seen some great ones lately and I thought they were such a great idea that I would make one for myself. I seem to make notes of different stamp sets that I see, but then I seem to lose them...either that or Jim throws them out so I won't spend more money! lol :) Anyway, I'll have to check my supplies to see what I can come up with...

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Live Love Laugh Butterflies

Well, I'm officially sick in the head...my butterfly obsession took over tonight! I was about to go to bed and I glanced over at my crafty space and I spied a butterfly stamp calling my name! I thought, well, perhaps just a quick little card...humm, an hour and a half later I'm done! Guess I'm gonna be sleepy again come morning! I'd better go get the coffee ready and program it for first thing! lol :)

Here's an angle to show the butterflies. :)

OK, I'm callin' it a day! Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Hello Friend

We got to meet up with my friend from Ontario last night and had a great night at the Natal Day Fireworks - it was one of the best fireworks displays I think I've seen yet! Lots of big ones, pretty colours and some different ones I've never seen before. A great time overall. The kids were pretty sleepy on the way home and fell asleep in the car, hurray for me, just had to scoop them and put them in bed. lol :)

My friend came over to our house this morning and all the kids had a great time playing, just like the old days when they used to play together all the time. It's hard to believe that it's been two years since they've seen each other, (before we moved back home to Nova Scotia from Ontario) they act like they been together all along. They played wonderfully and we got to chat and hang out and relax. The kids were still a bit wound up after left left a couple of hours ago, so I decided try to settle them down and have some crafty time with them. This is the card that I made while they made their cards. This is some patterned paper that I bought at Wal-Mart a few days ago and I think it's so pretty. I'm still amazed at the deal that I got. The whole slab of 36 double-sided sheets was only $9.97 - as apposed to it being nearly 3 times that price at Michaels! A screamin' deal, for sure! lol :)

Here's the K & Company paper slab that I got and I also for the Autumn Leaves - Stampology stamps pictured here for only $3.97!

Such great deals! It's been a little while since I've ventured into the crafty section of Wal-Mart, but they carry so much more than they used to. They have a ton of Martha Stewart products now, Cuttlebug folders and lots of new stamps and patterned paper! It's nice to see as I've been rather unimpressed with the whole attitude that Michaels has had lately with their coupons. Is it just me, or does everyone else just wish they'd make up their mind already! lol :) I've been boycotting them lately, although I'm sure I'll likely break down and venture in again sometime in the future...

Well, enough ranting...gotta go reheat supper and then get the kiddies off to bed since last night was a very late night. I'll be back later tonight with something else to show you.

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)

Altered Mini Clipboard

I altered this clipboard for a friend of mine who just moved into a new home. I thought she could use it at the door or by her phone for messages. Just gotta attach a little notepad to the clipboard and she'll have note paper handy when she needs it.

The clipboard is 6" wide by 9" high. A perfect size to hold a little notepad. I found these little mini clipboards at the Dollar Store and you know I had to get a few of them for this purpose. I love to alter things and clipboards are no exception. lol :) I kept this one pretty simple since I absolutely loved this new pattered paper that I just got and I didn't want to make a mess of it. Anyway, I hope she likes it and finds it useful. :)

Wanda's New Stamp/Scrapbooking Store

These a few of the things that I got from my cousin, Wanda's new stamp/scrapbooking store in the Valley. I'm gonna have fun playing with the flourishes by Basic Grey and I couldn't resist this sweet little pink camouflage tote. How cute is it? :)

If you're interested in taking a trip down to Nova Scotia's beautiful Annapolis Valley, I'm sure she'll have something there that'll satisfy your crafty hunger! lol :) She's located on Cornwallis Street, just opposite the mall with the Sobeys and Zellers on the main drag - Commercial Street in New Minas. The shop is in her home. I'm sorry, I don't have house number, but it's on the left hand side of the street, about 3/4 way down Cornwallis Street and there's a sign at the end of her driveway. Have fun shopping and tell her that Julie sent you!

Thanks for stoppin' by! :)
