Altered Serving Tray

I've been wanting to alter something for my Mum for her birthday and this serving tray is what I finally decided on. She loves daisies and I like this old SU dp, so I went with it along with a whimiscal butterfly theme. I hope she likes it! :) I bought the serving tray (or memory tray as they call it) at Michaels. It's a nice, sturdy tray that came pre-painted with the white finish and it also came with a clear acrylic protective insert. My idea originally was to make the serving tray with some Envirotex sealer to do a really good job...but I chickened out! lol :) I know it probably isn't that difficult to use, but I could just envision a huge, sticky mess on my part or ruined my job altogether! One of these days, however, I'll brave the Envirotex...it's some pretty cool stuff. You can check out the link above if you're not familiar with this product.

Here are some other views and a few closeups...

With Sympathy Dove

I dropped off my daughter at school this morning to learn some sad news, the only Secretary at her school suddenly passed away on the weekend, so I wanted to make a card to give to her family. She'll certainly be missed at school as she did so much to make everything run smoothly. All the children thought very fondly of her, so I know things will be a little quiet over there for a while. May she rest in peace.

Stamps: Nightingale (Inque Boutique), Greetings Galore (Impression Obsession)

Cards from Kelly

This is the beautiful card that Kelly Eelhart brought over last night that she made for our Colour Challenge. Kelly thought she went a little 'glitter happy', but I think it's gorgeous! Great job, Kelly! :)

This is a RAK card that Kelly made for me since she knows I love dragonflies! Isn't it pretty? I love the soft colours! Very Springlike! :)

OK, I need to go clean up toys...the inevitable time has come...couldn't a toy fairy just come over and do it for me? I seriously look forward to a few years down the road when we can get rid of most of these little toys...since I'm the only one that seems to know how to clean them up...

Copper Embossed True Friend

Ok, Here's the card that I made for Kim's Colour Challenge. I see Kim caved and posted her's already, so here's mine, too! lol :) You can see Kim's beautiful card here. Check out the gorgeous photostamp that she used on glossy cardstock! Amazing!

I decided to try some copper cardstock for my card and some beautiful chocolate ribbon for an elegant look. I think this is the first time that I've ever used only one stamp set for an entire card - one stamp for the main focal stamp, sentiment and the background! I guess there's a reason that they group certain stamps together, but I usually tend to mix them up a bit instead, but for this card, I likes all three stamps so I went with it!

Shades of Blue are Back!

Ahhhhh, sweet shades of blue!!! I decided to resort to my old ways this morning and surrender to some shades of blue again...sorry guys, but you knew it wouldn't be long before I caved and used blue again! I got my fix...I feel so much better, now! lol :)

Seriously, this card almost gives me a feeling of calmness about me. Is that weird? Probably yes, but regardless, I'm happy with how it turned out! The design for this card brewed in my head late last night as I was laying in bed, unable to sleep, but too tired to make a card...so I had to put it into action this morning during some R & R stampin' time. :)

Embrace Life Flowers

Mother Nature decided not to cooperate for my crafty night tonight. It ended up that only Kelly decided to brave the roads (since she lives near by) plus, some of the other girls were sick, so they couldn't make it. So, we're gonna reschedule for next week. Anyway, Kelly and I had a nice evening and got a bit of crafty time in and we also got to eat all the Tiramisu Spread ourselves with the help of my happy hubby! :) Well, there's also some for the kids tomorrow for a treat, too. I'm sure they'll be very pleased!

I only got one card done tonight...I was having some 'layering' issues...and my card took me all evening along with dealing with my youngest daughter that decided she didn't want to go to bed...all are sleeping soundly now and I think I'm gonna call it a night, too. I'll be back tomorrow with something else new to show you.

Nightingale Dove & Flourishes

I've made one more card for the colour challenge within our local group of stampin' friends. Everyone is coming over to my place tonight and we're gonna draw names and then we get to keep the creation of the person who's name we drew - just a little something fun to do. I'm really looking forward to all the girls coming over and Jim and I are also planning something special for our girls. They love to go camping, so we're gonna set up the tent downstairs in our rec room that they can camp out in while Mum has her friends over upstairs!

The girls used to sleep right through my stampin' gatherings...even with all our carrying on! I remember one night, shortly after we moved in to our house, I got the kids to sleep and I then had 11 friends come over to stamp, we laughed and weren't quiet by any means. Even the doorbell didn't wake the up! The kids slept through the whole thing and after everyone left, I cleaned everything up and the kids had no idea that I had anyone over! ...Sneaky Mum and her secret stampin' nights! lol :)

But, recently they keep waking up. We own a bungalow and their bedrooms are just off the dining room so I guess it's to be expected now. I kinda miss the style of our old house where the bedrooms were upstairs from my dining room where my friends and I used to stamp. Anyway, ya make due with what you've got...there's a lot of things that I enjoy more about the house that we're in now, so I guess it's a good trade off! lol :) Anyway, keep your fingers crossed that the girls decide to settle down and go to sleep early! :)

Update: I actually wrote this last night, but didn't post it. I was gonna wait to show everyone my card tonight, but I made another one this morning that I'm gonna use as the colour challenge card, so I'll wait to post that one next week when we all get together.
