Pretty Posies and Swirls

I had a chance to get back into my craft room tonight for a bit and got to play with my SU Delight in Life set and SU Best Blossoms set. Of course, I had to throw in a bit of Cuttlebug action to the scenario, too! :) I used my d'vine swirls embossing folder for the olive layer. I used SU Odd Olive ink to stamp the little background flowers and SU Elegant Eggplant and Odd Olive again for the flowers inside the scalloped oval. For the ovals, I used my Creative Memories cutting templates. I noticed instructions online somewhere for using scalloped scissors and I thought I'd try that tonight. First, you cut your two ovals with the outside layer being slightly larger. Then, adhere your white layer to your eggplant layer. Then, very slowly, line your scalloped scissors right against the white layer and cut around. It just so happened that the scallops lined up perfectly. I was hoping it would work out this way and not have one that was only 1/2 a scallop, but it worked out great. This method is pretty time consuming, but it's an option if you're like me and don't own any scalloped punches. I find lots of other ways to make them, cause I love the look of them. For the corners, I used my SU Ticket punch. I like the look of these corners, it fancies it up a bit and not so plain Jane. I love this colour combination... I can't wait to get a new camera though so you can actually decipher between dark brown, black and eggplant in my pics! This is eggplant that I used tonight along with olive and sage green. Hopefully we can fins a camera that takes a picture with more 'true colours.' We're going out to look tomorrow! Yippee! :)

I hope to get back into my craft room again tomorrow night. I've been going through a bit of crafty withdrawal lately, been so busy, I haven't had a chance to get in there. Jim's home now from sailing for a couple of months and the girls are ecstatic. It's nice to have him home, too, just have to get back into routine again. Unfortunately, the girls don't go to bed nearly as early when he's home, as they like to play with him in the evenings after supper and they get all excited and then won't settle down to go to bed. Kinda cuts into my crafty time, but it's nice that he likes to play with them, though. They love him so much! I know it's selfish of me, but it's just that I'm with my girls all day, the evenings are my wind-down, relax, me time. I think we all need that time as parents to be a better parent. That way we have more energy and patience for the kids the following day. I love my girls, but they need their rest, too, and Mummy needs some alone time! Well, that's enough of my ranting... lol :)

Have a great night everyone! Thanks for stopping by! :)

Great card as always Julie. You've more or less convinced me I need to buy a Cuttlebug. Enjoy your week.

Lovely card, Julie. The colour choices are very complimentary and it reminds me that I don't have to use desginer paper on every card. What you did with the little flower on the green c/s is great.
